A range of four t-shirt design proposals for the House of Blues ladies apparel line.
Building on a background of guitar chord patterns, this design highlights the guitar fretboard as a way of lyrical virtuosity and complexity of modern rock music. Tonal flourishes enhance this feeling, while rough type and halftone textures ensure it maintains the appropriate amount of grit. Strings, fret markers and machine heads would be printed with silver foil.
At the client's request, this design evokes the design sense of modern motorcycle clubs, while still being relevant to the House of Blues brand. The black banners are a leather jacket texture using a single continuous tone black. Also I'd love to see the red piping as a puff or suede ink and the white lettering as a vinyl ink.
This patterned tank organizes typically chaotic instrument cables into a repeating stripe, also incorporating the HoB logo, with the cable plugs printed in silver foil.
Non-instrumentalist singers always seem to get shorted a bit, so I wanted this design to really highlight the idea of soaring vocals. A bright color palette keeps things feeling modern, without dipping into an 80's-retro neon "club" vibe. Microphones printed in red foil or gradient.
